Btw, something I've never noticed in my previous residences at this time of year, is that there's a lot of overlap between when there's light in the sky very late, and very early. So for example the view out of the bathroom window is due North, and it's almost as light at 0250 as it is at 2230.

My min/max thermometer reads high when it's sunny, because the side of the house traps heat, but it logged 37°C yesterday.

Very hot last night, had to wrap an ice pack from the freezer in a t-shirt and hug it to get to sleep. NB it stayed cold till it was no longer needed.

Spent some time looking at the view North from the clinic staircase, featuring the Post Office Tower and many other high buildings.

Walked back through the heat, perhaps for the last time. Interesting that the first leg, to Barnes Common, was the shortest. It seemed the longest that freezing, misty January day when I first went to Putney.

Up at 3.30 to beautiful calm clear dawn, Venus seen. Got a lot done before 8.30!
Something fine and heroic about having been up and busy since very early, and then noticing that the sun is bright enough to turn the lights off.

Off at 1145 into relentless rain, and wind not from south as advertised, but right in my face. After seemingly endless ascent of Milestone Road got to surgery at 1245, wet as a haddock's pocket. Was kept waiting, damply reading the paper till 1330, but the doctor did apologise.

Walked home again. Woman at Co-op very nice. Perhaps she felt sorry for me looking so bedraggled.

Just as I got home, the rain stopped. Pleasure to dry out and warm up, then have hot bath.
