Walking home across the park thought 'Mist, park, Hallowe'en. Should end well.' and took a photo for FB. Incidentally the ground there has been walkable continuously since the spring. Usually it becomes too soggy to be passable after the end of September.

Lovely golden autumn weather, quite warm in the afternoon.

Just now (6.25) appreciating the twilight in the last light evening of the year. There is something fascinating about the last week of October, in the way that all borderlands and liminal things are.

Noticed that the grass on one side of the front lawn is very green - noticeable because the ground is generally very dry and large patches of all the lawns are still brown from the summer. I'm wondering if the gully at the front of the house, that the drainpipe empties onto, actually goes to a soakaway.

Interesting weather - clear at 6am, then rain at 8.30, then the clouds rolled away for most of the day.

Dim dark dull day, the first this autumn where I've had to put the lights on as soon as I got home. Autumn really has crept up on me this year, I still half expect it to be August.

The pound had a 'flash crash' against the dollar early today, and although the pro-Leave people were trying to gloss this over, it didn't recover completely. And it was approaching €1.10, I've never seen anything close to that before. There are dark times coming for this country, the lights are going out like 1981 or 1990.

Afternoon showers turned up earlier than I expected, and instead of going to the Co-op before they arrived, as I'd intended, I washed the car (so as not to have to rinse it).

Then the weather disobliged again by becoming dry for a while, which scuppered my plans to be tidying up inside, and the afternoon trailed off in a very unsatisfactory way.
