Showery again, with promise of a low drifting west from the North Sea. I thought the sky looked a bit odd for a north wind this evening. If this was December it'd be bringing tons of snow. As it is we should get rain and strong winds.

Rained all night and all morning. Then it suddenly brightened up with strong wind, sun and small cumulus. Usually we don't get this extended rain till September, so it's come a week or so early.

Hot, humid and unpleasant weather.

Boiling hot, though it was calm with a little mist at first. About 10am it was like a summer morning in a dream.

Very interesting weather in the morning. Horribly dark and dull till 10 am, when, driving home, I noticed the sun coming out. In fact the whole sheet of leaden grey cloud was rolling off to the south-east - the demarcation line between it and clear (albeit hazy warm-front-type) sky was very marked. After that, hot and sunny all day. Odd eh?

Bit of proper rain at last. A drop about 10am, a shower about 5.45; then, on my way to the pub about 8pm, it started really raining and hasn't stopped since - 3 hours so far.

Damp, dark morning till the sun came out about eleven.
