Fierce winds last night and all day: pleasant, very windy walk home, and then found I had plenty of energy for exercise. At 5pm, luckily just after I'd got home, there was a squally shower and thereafter till it was calmer.

Off into town at 12.45 BST. Very annoying wind and spitting rain, doing its best to ruin my makeup.
When I got there though, a lull in the rain as forecast, and I got home dry, though much buffeted by squally wind. Rather 'Aloysius' weather, with roiling clouds and powerful sun-breaks.

Btw, have often wondered why I couldn't see the very tall pylon at the docks from my house. Although there is a steep ridge between here and there, it still seemed odd. Noticed today that I can see it when the trees aren't in leaf - drew a careful picture of the trees and buildings that line up with it. Actually it's just the very top I can see, the top 20' perhaps.

Annoyingly, it was cloudy until about 11am, and then lovely, if cold, weather. It did get quite dim around totality at 9.30. E expressed his surprise that 85% occlusion wasn't darker, so I told him how it only went to 'evening twilight' darkness with 97% occlusion in 1999.
