EASTER MONDAY. Very windy overnight. Lay awake from 3am, got up at five and had a strange, 'advanced' day. Wind abated about noon - there was no apparent chimney damage.

Realised that two of my early memories must be from 1972, not later than February. I'll fill in the extra time in the 'pre-diary weather', even though I didn't have an ongoing awareness of days of the week and weather then. Though one memory is of a hot sunny day.

Another day when it was warm in the sun and flipping cold out of the sun. At the bookshop they've opened up a new back room, with a stove in it which was most welcome on such a cold day.

Btw, lot of standing water in the fields up here too.

Very warm in the hazy sunshine, quite cold out of it. Noticed on the way to Solihull that the rivers were very full and there was a lot of standing water in the fields.

There was a heavy frost but a misty sun, and another warm day promised, and it was very pleasant to walk along by the river at 7.50am knowing I didn't have to do a day's work.

Much warmer today, the first warm day of the year, one of those days where the air is still quite chilly but the sun is warming the ground. Also a pleasant sea-breeze at lunchtime, which I enjoyed as I walked to the library.

It did rain, but not quite in the way predicted - it was spotting when I walked to the salon, and just before I got home again it was a sort of slow rain, a 'half setting' rain if you will. Pretty cold though.
