Went for a walk after dinner: the sun had come out at last and it was cold but pleasant.

Got a book about Essex weather. Apparently the county is notable for thunderstorms.

Walked to the tech through fog and great cold. Even colder and foggier at 8pm.

Walked through lucid frosty pre-dawn morning air to the tech.

A very bright Full Moon in a clear sky at 8 pm seemed to bode well for seeing the eclipse, but it completely clouded over by 10pm.

At 10.30am it was raining pretty determinedly so I stayed in. It stopped about noon.

Barometer dropped from 1000mb at 12.40 last night to 972 mb at 12 noon - nearly an inch. Very windy all day. Floods round the country.
