Gloomy, humid morning, but cooler. In the afternoon the weather cleared, sunny but not quite so insanely hot as yesterday.

Tuesday, July 30, 2002

Again very hot, but cloudier than yesterday.

Monday, July 29, 2002

Excellent thunderstorm at 4 am. Very hot day. Quite ridiculous at work. Internet radio very calming though.

Walked home at a gentler pace than normal. Cold tea. I'm all for good weather but this is ridiculous.

Sunday, July 28, 2002

Gorgeous weather. Very hot all night: had windows open. Unusual.

Had cold lunch. There were some impressive cumulo-nimbus, one with very good anvil head, but no thunder so far. That wonderful sort of orangey-red hazy far-off appearance in the biggest clouds, and them much more 'intricate' than fair-weather Cu, i.e. with far more turbulence.

Saturday, July 27, 2002

Very hot today, strolled through park in idyllic weather.

Striking sunset with aurora-like upwards illumination of dark, flat clouds in west above sun.

Friday, July 26, 2002

Cloudy start, clearing throughout the day to a beautiful evening, with a vast clear sky like an inverted pool of water, birds circling high in it and a huge sun resting on the horizon at 9pm.

Saturday, July 20, 2002

Rather more cloud today, with some exciting vertical development and a thunderstorm passing nearby.

Friday, July 19, 2002

Wonderful weather. Hot, with fair-weather cumuli. While out shopping drove slowly between Monkspath and Ferry Farthingale taking in the sunlit countryside and feeling grateful.

Home and chilled out generally. I love it when I open windows on all four sides of the house and fill the place with sunlight and breeze.

Thursday, July 18, 2002

Towards the end of the night had a great dream about allowing myself to be blown by the wind up into the sky - a white sky filled with sunlit rain.

Tuesday, July 16, 2002

Rather cloudier start than previous days, but pretty nice in the afternoon and evening.

Monday, July 15, 2002

Beautiful day again. Had sunburn from yesterday, so stayed inside with doors and windows open for a cool, bright house.

Sunday, July 14, 2002

Beautiful weather again. Very hot. Dispensed with jacket for Quaker meeting. In the afternoon lay and looked up into the sky, being strongly reminded of July 1981 for some reason.

Saturday, July 13, 2002

Lovely weather with big white cumuli.

Friday, July 12, 2002

Weather turned dark but sort of cosily dull in the afternoon.

Thursday, July 11, 2002

While I was fixing the curtain pole something happened that seemed to justify not going to Hengrave this year. When I remember being there I always think of one warm afternoon with really heavy rain falling onto the garden, and me watching it from the open window. Just the same thing happened today! Surely a message.

Wednesday, July 10, 2002

Sunny with two heavy showers, one at 1pm and one at 3pm. Sheltered from the second outside the Co-op. It's amazing how less threatening a place becomes if you just stand there for 10 minutes.

Tuesday, July 09, 2002

Felt rather better today despite miserable weather in the morning: grey with constant drizzle. Rain stopped about 2pm; strolled up the hill for a walk round town. Home to evening sunlight, and less humid atmosphere.

Monday, July 08, 2002

Weather grey and dull in the afternoon - I felt kind of low and 'wintry'. But it's raining rather determinedly now, kind of washing away the low mood.

Sunday, July 07, 2002

Another grey, miserable day. Drizzling in the morning.

Wednesday, July 03, 2002

Miserable weather (dark, damp and rainy) and miserable identity card news to go with it. I hate David Blunkett so much. I know that he is lying when he talks about 'entitlement' and 'helping people', and I know he knows he's lying.

Monday, July 01, 2002

Rotten headache all day. Grey weather didn't help - fortunately the sun came out in the afternoon and headache was gone after tea.
