Leap year

Nothing to tell you today as there was no "Feb 29 2017". But here's what the Weather Diaries have to say about February 29th:

1992

In 75% of years today would be the first day of spring, and it certainly tried to live up to it: very warm, sunny and calm.

1996

Felt great despite getting up at 6am. Lovely clear morning.

2000

My watch got the date wrong today - sure it recognised the leap year in 1996.

Getting to work was a struggle with strong wind and heavy rain.

2004

1ST IN LENT. There can't be 5 Sundays in February very often - every 28 years? Sun high enough to make spring seem a real possibility (noticed blackthorn blossom out yesterday).

2012

Would normally have been the first day of spring, and the weather was certainly up to it. (Found myself typing up the same sentiment when I checked for 20 years ago).
