September 3rd. Cold and windy all day with a massive rain shower about 5pm.

September 4th. An extremely cold day.

September 6th. A grey, damp, rainy day.

September 13th. Foul weather, rain and grey clouds.

September 18th. Massive thunderstorm last night: preliminary rumbles about 2am and continuous thunder and lightning waking me up at 4am. One massive flash, and crack of thunder, about 4.10, I timed at ~ 0.3s between flash and crash, ~ 120 yards away! Actually I was quite scared but gave myself a good scientific talking-to.

September 22nd. Rain all day today and thunder now.

September 23rd. Rain most of day again, clearing towards the end of the afternoon - floods in various places, apparently.

September 24th. At 11 am went out: raining, and river very high, but on the way back the sun came out and cheered me up very much.

July 20th. About 8.40pm I was feeling bored when the rain, which had been light for about half an hour, suddenly increased. Then the heavens opened, lightning, thunder, the works. About 9.30 it got really violent. By 10.30 things were quieter. More rumbles at midnight. Woken at 1.50 am by the loudest clap of thunder I've ever heard.

The weather drifting up from the East got stormier and stormier until, about 2.30, the heavens opened. Saw a brilliant sparkling purple fork of lightning. Afterwards with the storm moving West the light was reflecting off dazzling white cumulus in the East, making everything look like morning.

June 14th. Extremely hot - not humid though, but with a strong warm Westerly wind.

Hot and clear.

May 14th. Fantastically hot. Took my bike to the repair shop again, walked back in intense heat.

May 16th. Clear and hot again.

May 17th. Clear and warm, not quite so hot as yesterday.

May 18th. Hot again, but a cool breeze helped out.

May 19th. Still hot and sunny.

May 20th. Yet again hot and clear.

May 21st. Still hot and clear, very hot in fact. But haze and some cloud in the evening.

May 22nd. Yet again hot and clear.

May 23rd. Very hot again but cloudy later... a thunderstorm was approaching. There were a few rumbles of thunder and a few flashes of lightning and about 5 minutes' rain, but not a lot came of it. Gratifying to see the thunder arriving on schedule in the last third of May.
