A cold front was approaching from the West all day, btw - 'perfect' hot/humid/clear weather till about 6.30, with the rain starting at 8 pm.

August 30th. Much cooler today - bright sun and wind and cumulus - altogether fair weather.

Stewart and Christian came round but it was just too hot (temperature records broken in Hampshire (99 F) and rumours of 100 F in Essex somewhere).
