Some good sunny intervals today, and also some impressive heavy rain.

Saturday, June 26, 2004

Untidy sort of weather - light rain, high smooth grey clouds.

Friday, June 25, 2004

Beautiful bright day with big cumuli.

Thursday, June 24, 2004

Cold and windy but also sunny at times.

Wednesday, June 23, 2004

The weather was very windy with lots of rain, which always invigorates me. Only drawback therewith is

(Thursday) - well, whatever it was, the phone rang just as I wrote that.

Monday, June 21, 2004

Some impressive cumulo-nimbus clouds in the afternoon, though only a rumble or two of thunder. A beautiful rainbow too. And a lovely New Moon later.

Sunday, June 20, 2004

Strange sort of day, cold and unseasonal. Had to have the fan heater on in the morning.

Saturday, June 19, 2004

More fresh bright weather. In the morning deep blue sky and hundreds of small cumuli.

Friday, June 18, 2004

Rather fresh today with a smell of the sea on the wind.

Thursday, June 17, 2004

Cloudier, windier and cooler today.

Wednesday, June 16, 2004

More cloud today, but very hot when the sun was out.

Tuesday, June 15, 2004

Absolutely beautiful morning, clear as crystal.

Monday, June 14, 2004

Really beautiful summer evening now - clear and with all shades of colour from deep blue to apricot. In some ways I will miss this place, particularly the four-directional views.

Sunday, June 13, 2004

Lovely weather again - bit cooler and more pleasant.

Thursday, June 10, 2004

Very warm, and humid.

Wednesday, June 09, 2004

Again very warm. Had the windows open all night.

Transit of Venus today, which I've been waiting for since about 1978. Duly observed with eclipse viewer from five years ago. Venus moved across the lower part of the Sun from left to right, from about 7 o'clock at 0700 to about 5 o'clock at 1100. It was quite clearly a disc, a small black circle perhaps of the proportion of a pea to a dinner plate or a marble to a dustbin lid. (That clears up my 'should Venus be visible as a disc') question. I let C. and D. at work have a look through my viewer.

Oddly the disc thing brought home how far away Venus is. If you know it's 8,000 miles across but it looks like a tiny circle, it must be really far away. Things that just appear as points don't give the same impression.

Hot day, lovely warm 'spacious' evening. When I'm not catastrophising, I like this place.

Friday, June 04, 2004

Warm, damp day.

Tuesday, June 01, 2004

Misty, damp day.
