Very windy now, no rain yet though, unlike Wales where they've got terrible floods. I'd rather have snow, but any sort of dramatic weather's welcome.

Went to town in the afternoon: it was raining and blowing strongly but it was quite mild and pleasant really.

Shocking weather: freezing cold with thick fog which the sun, 1 day past the solstice and about 10 deg above the horizon, could not disperse. Went to the Co-op for vodka in a heavy frost.

Appallingly cold on the way to town.

Bright and cold again; noticed that the kettle's taking longer to boil - the cold water must be colder. Proper December weather.

Very windy in the night and in the morning; one panel of the fence blew down. It rained continuously, with a cold front peak at 11.30am, till about 2.30. I went out and propped up the fence; it was very dark. About 3pm the sky cleared and golden sun burst out.

Shocking weather - heavy rain. Ventured out in the morning but didn't go any further than the post office because of the rain. Decided to venture out at 2pm as the rain seemed to've stopped; having got to Sainsbury's, I came out and it began to piss down. That always happens when it's too rainy to go out in the morning.

I was in a very good mood after the interview. Weather cleared too, strong SW wind F5-6 gusting F8 all day, dull grey stratocumulus in the morning, clearing as I left the job centre about 1pm to smaller cumulus and blue sky.

Massive shower/thunderstorm this morning, first flashes and rumbles at 5.40am leading to a precipitational peak about 7.20am. I reckon that's the last of the summer weather.

Real cold front weather, or post-cold-front - massive heavy shower at 3pm. I was coming back from Sainsburys and had to drive about 10mph as I couldn't see where I was going. Roads inches deep in water for some minutes.

First day of Autumn; very damp with lots of rain.

September 15th. Up at 9am for The Flintstones to another dark and rainy morning. Very cold - had to put a jumper on for the first time this season.

4th. Woken up at 2.45 am by a thunderstorm, didn't get back to sleep for another hour.

Very hot today.

No thunder, but it rained quite heavily about 3.15pm.

Quite hot: a thundery shower about 7.15pm with very strong downdraughts.

Jupiter, the Moon and Venus all in the western sky together showing the line of the Ecliptic. Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 will hit Jupiter tomorrow although there won't be much to see from here.

Warm and cloudy and damp.

Very hot but a strongish cooling breeze. The barometer fell 15 or 20 mb during the day despite the hot weather and sunshine (lots of cirrocumulus though) and thunder reached Wimbledon at 7 pm, with noticeable medium-wave hissing at 7.30.

By 8 pm it was clear something was going to happen, there were rumbles at 8.30 and from 8.45 or 9pm to 9.40 or so a huge thunderstorm raged, passing right over the house. There were very strong downdraught gusts (65 mph according to a later severe weather warning), very heavy rain and prolonged flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder.

Got sacked. Walked home rather depressed, very windy weather.

June 1st. A fine, hot morning, walked into town. Had to buy a bottle of water, it was so hot.

Brass weather forecaster forecast beautiful weather for the Bank Holiday. It proved accurate.

Lovely morning: complete change in the weather. Got the Met Office cloud observer's book and a brass weather forecaster, a handy little device, based on pressure, trend and wind direction. Made some notes on the algorithm it uses.

Apparently there was a small earthquake in East Anglia today, 3.6 on the Richter scale (1000 times weaker than the recent Los Angeles one). Can't say I noticed anything!

Freezing cold with tiny dry snowflakes. Colder than I can remember. -1 C in the day, apparently with wind chill -12 C in the strong breeze.
