Very clear weather, and quite a lot colder than yesterday, with a stiff breeze. About 5pm a wonderful full moon, floating above the fields.

Wonderful clear, slightly hazy mellow day (apparently this is the warmest October on record).

Quite cool weather today. Wonderful sunset with dark flat grey clouds illuminated underneath in deep red.

Beautiful 'hard' blue-sky weather.

Bright, cold morning.

One of those 'cosy' very dark, dry, not too cold days, windy, which I rather like.

Drove home at 9.45pm with Andy Kershaw on again. Wonderful to be transported from cold, dark Colchester to the tropics.

Heavy rain in the morning, but rather nice by lunchtime with big white cumulus.

Sun came out in the morning, thank God. Very mild day in fact.

Another day of rotten weather. No sign of the sun, and heavy rain. In fact torrential rain at lunchtime when I was on the A12: for some minutes it was impossible to go faster than 40 mph.

Gloomy day with a lot of rain. Couple of glimpses of the sun around sunset.

Misty, mellow day. Leaves well on the turn now.

October - there's a cosy element of the first year at uni about my associations, but there's a lot of 1991 in there too: before I got so drunk and desperate - the new computer and bright hopes.

Sun came out again in the afternoon - quite an improvement.

'Cosy' fog in the morning, thinning all day till a beautiful, mellow, hazy autumn afternoon. Kind of reprise of summer. Actually saw the 'sun shining through ground glass' effect.

By the way, a few days ago saw a parhelion (false sun).

Blowy day with heavy, cold rain at times.

Weather wild and windy, wet too later. Appropriately stayed in and listened to The Tempest on Radio 3.

Another beautiful, mellow, sunny day. The 'reflection of spring' effect in the morning - enough green leaves and slanting light to be an early May morning. Later though a hard edge to the blue sky that reminded me of the fearful mornings of two years ago.

Clear, cool, sunny day with fair-weather cumuli sailing high. Leaves just turning, and the vivid colours especially clear in the strong sunlight and against the bright sky. Perhaps recalling the leaves on the Eastchester ring road in autumn 1988.

Dark and raining hard in the morning, but perfectly calm, so took umbrella and walked. Wind and rain would've been sufficient excuse to take the car.

I was a little uncomfortable with the return of dark evenings, but was OK.
