If the clocks hadn't gone back it would've been a really dark, depressing morning with heavy rain. As it was, it was
lighter than last week.
0800 8 S/Sc. Rain until...
1600. 6 S frags, Ac, wind SW. Rain stops.

Very interesting sky at 8 am, stratocumulus cover retreating westwards before Cu & broken Sc with the Sun shining between them. Like the sky when it clears towards sunset. Rather disorienting.
0700. Sc.
0800 Breaks in NE wind to Cu + Sc with Ci, Cc above.
1300 Large, developed, fuzzy-edged Cu.
1700 Cu & Sc Clearing.

Partial eclipse in the morning. Got a good view through my trusty eclipse glasses (previously used for 1999 total eclipse and 2004 Venus transit) Also saw the crescent shapes produced by sun through leaves, which I haven't managed to see before.
Cold. N wind
AM: Ac and unformed Cu, quite well developed; PM. Clouds over to 8 Sc

Walked back from the station in the afternoon in warm sun and cold N wind. A great bay of sky opened up between headlands of altocumulus, with little cirrocumulus wavelets.
I remembered the bit from American Beauty about beauty and a benevolent force. Except that there isn't a benevolent force - there doesn't have to be because there isn't a malevolent force either. A beautiful sight like that is a free gift to be appreciated. Take it, there'll be more to come. Cold. N wind. Bright.
1500 Cc ripples and flecks with flat Cu
1800 Ac ripples Clearing
