Bright frosty morning, duly off to the salon. Thought that the angle of the light suggested about 7pm on an evening in May/June. When I got up to the woods though, the fine autumn colours on the trees dispelled the illusion.

Slept well 9.45-5.30, woke up to a damp Solihull morning.

Looking at the frills of dark cloud in front of the yellow-grey sunset sky on the A43 and A422, I thought 'Life is sweet and I shall be sorry to die.' A real change from some of my holidays, 2008-11 say, when it was more a matter of 'I don't care if it kills me.' Wind turbines turning serenely in the yellow-grey westering sun, really quite beautiful.

Really wet day - 6pm and I haven't ventured further than the compost bin all day so far. Worked diligently, extending my A14 strip map all the way to Ipswich so I know where I can stop for supplies on my journey on Monday. It was an enjoyable thing to be doing on a wet holiday Saturday.
