Beautiful weather. In the afternoon sat out in the garden for a bit as I like to do on August Bank Holiday when it's the last day of my summer holidays.

Quite dark and cool and autumnal in the afternoon and in the evening btw. Was like this a couple of days ago, but today was the first time that reminded me that summer won't last forever. Also I've noticed this week that the nights are drawing in - quite dark at 9.30 whereas 2 months ago the sun would only have set a while ago. Oddly I don't think of that being the case till the end of August.

Yesterday evening it was really hot outside, like being in a warm bath. Today looked at first as if it was going to be worse, but altocumulus castellanus appeared and it duly thundered. I wish I'd learnt about Ac cast. earlier, I'd never heard of them till I was reading ahead in a geography textbook when I was about 14. Since then I've found them an infallible thunder-predictor.

Trudged home from work in the heat.
