Very dark clouds rolled up about 4.50pm and it began to absolutely piss down as I walked home. Glad I started keeping that spare brolly in the office. Actually I still got soaked from the knees down, it was raining so hard, but it makes a big difference when your head's dry. Once I'd got going, it was very pleasant to walk through the rain, see the gutters in full spate and huge puddles everywhere.

Tuesday, July 29, 2003

Wet, dull day with a gleam or two of sunshine, and fairly strong wind.

Monday, July 28, 2003

Lovely weather in the morning, interestingly windy with big clouds later.

Sunday, July 27, 2003

Impressive shower early in the evening.

Saturday, July 26, 2003

Rather dull weather, impressive rain in the evening.

Friday, July 25, 2003

Wind and rain.

Thursday, July 24, 2003

Cooler, fresher weather with some big cumuli.

Monday, July 21, 2003

Off to Bluewater about eleven. Lovely day, hot with clean-lined white clouds. They massed up a bit in the afternoon but it didn't rain.

Sunday, July 20, 2003

Lots of thunder, lightning and rain overnight. Then today cooler, breezy and sunny.

Thursday, July 17, 2003

Cooler and quite windy today.

Wednesday, July 16, 2003

Excellent thunderstorm about 5pm. Was able to do that 'sit inside looking out of the window at the rain' thing I so enjoy.

Tuesday, July 15, 2003

Just as hot, but with a lot of cirrus.

Monday, July 14, 2003

Weather so flawless today that I abandoned all thoughts of Ikea and went to Felixstowe. Hot, utterly cloudless, strong sea breeze. Quite lovely.

Home via Stoke by Nayland. Countryside as lovely as the seaside, with rustling wheat fields, dappled shadows etc.

Now a bright full Moon riding above the quiet town. Kind of benevolent. Chimes with the Luna Lovegood style dreamy goodwill I've been feeling since Saturday.

Sunday, July 13, 2003

Flawless weather, hardly a speck of cloud in the intensely blue sky all day. Sun shining very powerfully - I took coffee on the doorstep, and my arm was starting to burn by the time I'd finished drinking it.

Sunset so clear, nothing to describe except the gradation of colour in the sky, orange to yellow to greenish to dark blue to black. Capella shining in North about 11pm, a reminder that, although Summer is in its youthful prime, the year does keep on turning.

Saturday, July 12, 2003

Absolutely gorgeous weather - sun beating down all day from a deep blue sky. Clouds got fewer and fewer, till by the evening there were just a few very thin red strips of cloud against a sky like a deep pool of clear water.

In the evening gazed at yellow full moon above the opposite side of the river valley, shining down on the quiet town. Perfect end to a perfect day.

Thursday, July 10, 2003

Extremely hot today.

Wednesday, July 09, 2003

Very hot today - had to take my jacket off about 7 minutes into my walk to work.

Saturday, July 05, 2003

Unpleasant weather. Quite chilly in the morning again. All day sky grey with an almost wintry appearance.

Friday, July 04, 2003

Grey start, sun came gorgeously out in the afternoon to change the mood. And in the evening the low sun turned archipelagoes of altocumulus orange against the blue. An hour later the West was a beautiful clear, pale lavender - higher up the New Moon slipped in and out of low dark small clouds.

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

Rediscovered how pleasant it is to walk in the rain with an umbrella - when it isn't windy.

Tuesday, July 01, 2003

Was sitting in the library at lunchtime, facing a vast view to the West. Dark clouds and darker pannus hurrying below them above the pylons and factories. It started raining - the rain advanced towards me so successive folds of the landscape faded behind silver curtains. When it reached campus a young woman ran for cover with girlish abandon. Her soberer friend dashed under a convenient tree and put up her umbrella.
