Wet, dark, miserable day.

Saturday, September 28, 1996

Went for a walk - wind, sun, heathland with roaming cows, ponies and even a deer. Lovely. In the evening walked into Bournemouth along the sea front. It was powerful and elemental and very suitable to the occasion: strong onshore wind, waves crashing on the beach, flying clouds in the night sky. I thought of Túrin on the sea shore.

Friday, September 27, 1996

Fine bright full moon.

Sunday, September 22, 1996

White skies and drab feelings.

Thursday, September 19, 1996

At 7.30am it was actually thundering and there was some heavyish rain. More rain in the late afternoon.

Read careers books in the library. Walked home feeling very low. When I got home, read the front page of Computer Weekly: apparently IT graduates are in great demand and it's the hardest sector to recruit people in. Cheered up immensely, then spotted a great blue gap in the flowing grey clouds, just like 'The Sun And The Rain'.

Monday, September 16, 1996

Beautiful weather again.

Sunday, September 15, 1996

Beautiful weather again. Countryside a bit like Bk.1 of LotR. Pretended the sun-glinting distant estuary was the Brandywine.

Saturday, September 14, 1996

Beautiful weather, awful hangover.

Friday, September 13, 1996

Bright, cool September weather.

Later beautiful view of the stars in cold polar airstream, including the Milky Way in the vicinity of Cassiopeia. Enough to make one 'drunk with distance and expanse'.

Wednesday, September 04, 1996

White-skied day, clearing to another golden autumn afternoon.

Tuesday, September 03, 1996

Late in the morning the white sky cleared and a golden autumn day was revealed.

Monday, September 02, 1996

Rather autumnal weather today, but still fairly warm.

Sunday, September 01, 1996

Hint of autumn on the countryside.
