Walking home had the strangest feeling. It was a mixture of getting back to where I was before 'things went wrong', and the thought that something unhappy and dismal had departed. There were yellow-white clouds to the West with ripples of dark rainy grey, and a little blue patch.

Even hotter, and not a cloud in the sky except a few cirrus about 4.30. Actually had a nap in one of the big chairs round the conference table at lunchtime, I was so hot and tired.

Home for curry - did think about getting bits for a cold collation, but in the end thought spicy food might cool me down, and it did. Very nice to get inside where it was a cool shady 78°, as I'd closed all the curtains in the morning to exclude the sun.

Really hot today, bit of a trial in fact. M set off for home a few minutes before me, at 4pm when it was hotter than ever. I joked to the others that I'd find his bleached bones on my way along the same route.
