Very cold, foggy, grey, yesterday's snow still lying, and outlining the trees in white. Thick fog in the evening.

Cold again but grey: began to snow at lunchtime and came down all afternoon and evening in big flakes. Wonderful view West about 4pm from the top of the steps: trees black, grass white to grey, distance grey and dim with falling snow.

Huge round red sun on horizon at 4pm.

Very cold and clear. Walking home in the sunset afterglow, I didn't find the sunset depressing because I knew the sun'd come up tomorrow.

At 3.30 rather nice round red sun above the winter fields.

Another beautiful day - clouded over at 5pm but dramatically, so even that was good.

Pressure very high at 1042 mb/30.7 in. Certainly a beautiful clear day all day, and a wonderful starry night. Venus, Jupiter and Saturn all on show - latter close to Hyades and Aldebaran.
