Beautiful weather - blazing hot but with enough big Cu to provide occasional relief in the form of cloud-shadows. Stopped at Furnival Gardens by the river, with fine view of what from the A-Z proved to be Hammersmith Bridge, and had picnic.

Another hot day. Some nice landscapes - grand views from the South Downs and 'Surrey Hills', the neat little town of Alton, and magical green-and-gold forest vistas making me think of the Old Forest Road through Mirkwood. Forest escalades even!

Another hot day - and we've had a long succession of hot nights too, about 2 weeks where I've had the fan on nearly every night. Most summers it's 3 or 4 nights of fan, then it's unused till I get the fan heater out in the autumn.

Into town to buy a loose skirt for these hot evenings.
