Very hot but a strongish cooling breeze. The barometer fell
15 or 20 mb during the day despite the hot weather and sunshine (lots of cirrocumulus though) and thunder
reached Wimbledon at 7 pm, with noticeable medium-wave hissing at 7.30.
By 8 pm it was clear something was going to happen, there were rumbles at 8.30 and from 8.45 or 9pm to 9.40 or so a
huge thunderstorm raged, passing right over the house. There were very strong downdraught gusts (65 mph according to
a later severe weather warning), very heavy rain and prolonged flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder.
'Violent thunderstorms on the 24th over the southeast as a cold front moved east. Lightning damage and death.' [...]

June 1994
June 1st. A fine, hot morning, walked into town. Had to buy a bottle of water, it was so hot.
June 2nd. Very hot and humid in town.
June 5th. Nice day with cumuli and dark blue Polar Maritime sky.
June 12th. Beautiful weather. Pressure at 1039 mb and a flat calm at 10 am.
June 13th. Beautiful calm morning again. Then intense heat.
June 14th. Flawless morning again. Too hot if anything.
June 15th. And again. Even better weather and with a cooling breeze.
June 16th. Cloudier today but hot and humid.
June 17th. Cloudier again but as hot as ever.
June 19th. Nice weather again.
June 23rd. Beautiful weather.
June 26th. Beautiful weather again.
June 27th. Beautiful weather but a lot of unexpected cirrocumulus-type clouds. Went down to the DHSS in extreme heat.
June 28th. Beautiful weather and very hot.
June 29th. Beautiful weather again, not as hot as yesterday after a brief thunderstorm at 4 am.
