Lot of noise in the hotel. Got off to sleep at 3am to the sound of rain.
Beautiful weather, but as I raced eastwards it deteriorated, getting hazy, then dull, then cold, then raining.
My theory that I'd caught up with the night's rain was confirmed by the way that when I reached Colchester at 10.30 it was raining, and then the sequence reversed till about 3pm we had the weather I'd
left at Cobham at 8.30.
