Went out in the afternoon in freezing drizzle to the bottle bank, to dump Christmas empties.

17th. It got very windy and rainy in the day. Got a lift to the hospital, but had to walk miles in gales and freezing rain afterwards.

19th. Foul weather in the afternoon, strong winds and heavy rain.

25th. Miserable weather in the morning, wet and grey, and a hangover to go with it. Ideal weather for contemplating abstinence, though. Later the weather improved - interestingly windy now, down to 980mb.

26th. Windy again.

29th. Interesting weather - heavy rain beating on the windows in the morning.

30th. River very high and thrusting at the pillar of the viaduct.
