September 5th. Very cold today but sunny, definitely Septembral if not autumnal.

September 7th. Fair weather in the day, but pressure fell, it clouded over and rained in the evening.

September 8th. Heavy rain last night, one flash of lightning: damp with showers this morning.

September 9th. More heavy showers today, sun in between.

September 12th. Rain and wind getting stronger all day, pressure dropping too.

September 13th. Very heavy rain, hail, thunder, wind - leak in the porch roof didn't help.

September 14th. Very cold at the moment - at least it's stopped raining.

September 15th. Very cold - had to wear my coat in the house this morning.

September 16th. Very cold today, heavy rain by late evening.

September 25th. Miserable damp grey weather.

September 26th. Cold, grey, rainy weather.

'Cool, dull, and very wet' [...]

September 27th. Freezing cold and raining.

'The 27th was unusually cold... the coldest September day in the south since 1918.'

September 28th. Still the same weather.

September 29th. The sun came out for a bit in the afternoon, after 5 days.

September 30th. Beautiful clear bright day, but heavy rain in the evening.
